My Name is Jolene Modd.

I am a Children’s Author, poet and campaigner.

I raise awareness for people with hidden disabilities.

When I was 12 years old it was my dream to write and publish a book.

Despite the first three books being poetry, they are anthologies and diaries of my life story written in poetry form. Poetry is art, it is one way of capturing feelings and emotions or expressions. Written through observation.

Campaigning...

Over the years I have been involved with many charities and organisations and have seen through many successful campaigns. This has helped make progress in services like hospitals, mental health care and improving relationships between professionals, doctor and patient care.

Surgery.

I was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of two years, since then I have spent many years trying out medication with little success. In 2011 I had neuro surgery which resulted in cardiac arrest. Since then I have been using art and writing as a way of recovery. I found running coffee and chat groups and being involved in support groups a great tool. In March 2021 I had further surgery which has helped reduce my seizures.
